Obama Chills

Have you all been listening? Have you all been watching? We are blessed to be seeing history in the making! I'm talking about Barack Obama for President of the United States. Are you kidding me??? Just hearing him say the words "I will be the next President of the United States" gives me CHILLS. Goosbumps. As a kid I learned about great men like JFK and MLK. But now we all have the opportunity to actually see the coming of a man shaped in same mold of these great men. Years ago my 8 year old son Ijechi asked me once "Daddy, can a black man become President?" Just the fact that in the 21st cnetury a kid still has to ask this type of question is a damn shame and we as Americans should be ashamed. I told my son that although only white men have been voted as the President of the United States a balck man, latin man, asian man, or a woman can be voted as the President of the United States but unfortunatley these groups of people are the minority and people usually vote for people that look the same as them and that a mojority of people in America are white. But look at the Obama Campaign! He has started to disproved this notion that I told my son about only white men being President. I see white people. latin people, asian people voting for Obama in these primaries. We are all geting the chance to see a changing time here in America where color of skin does not determine votes. Sen Obama does not become the next president of the United States I can tell my son that YES a black man can be Presidant and has a fighting chance to elected. I'm telling you it gives me CHILLS.

I hope Obama does not become the first the 3rd assasinated president. Are you telling me Americans are now so liberal?

To be frank, it gives me the chills too. If Obama becomes the next American president then he has started a new vista for Afro-americans and it can only get better from there. Chidi, its really nice to read ur piece. I guess it is even nicer knowing u are a Nigerian and have played Pro-football. Although not a fan of American football, i am kinda proud of u. Keep up this space and u can be assured of a regular reader. i've also got a blog myself; demolaadesina.blogspot.com, if ur up to it u can check it out. Good work, keep it up. My name is Demola Adesina

After the sweep in DC/MD/VA, it is clear that Barack is now the front runner. My family members in Nigeria are so excited about his progress, one would think that they will be voting in the elections in November!

It is so wonderful to see him inspire so many people regardless of age, race, gender, economic position. It will be interesting to see if he runs against McCain. Nice post.

'Yes, We Can'!!!!
What can I say, Chidi? I'm so proud to be BLACK in today's world and I know I'll look back to this moment in history with gratitude that I experienced the 'movement' and pride that I was involved in it. I am inspired and Obama just gave a new definition to equality; we must not only say we are free but must be bold enough to rise up with our head high and LIVE as free-borns. U're right, even if he does not win, the journey in itself is its own reward.
You get chills? I get huge bumps and a happy tear at the sheer possibilities...'OH YES, WE CAN!!!

Yes we can!!
This isnt just another Jesse Jackson (no offense) attempt, but this is a strong fighting chance that has Billary as the Clintons are called scared up the wazoo! Everyone is watching all over the world, friends and family even in the UK and Nigeria are all glued watching begging us all to vote.
Yes we want change and Yes we can!!

Don, Many African Americans are whispering your same sentiments abotu fear of Obama being taken out before his prime. We are all too familiar with America's history of assasinating presidents and assasinating great leaders who will actually change this country in a positive way. Let us all pray and put our faith in God that no matter what happens all roads lead to victory. Wicked forces can't win. Anything they do to stop the light and truth from coming ends up illicting change anyway. Victory is already won no matter how many of our great leaders they get rid of.
